Understanding Hydropower

Hydropower is the oldest and largest source of renewable energy generated from the movement of water.

The beauty of hydropower is that it is a renewable energy source that does not deplete or adversely impact the water used.

Water is Green Energy

Hydropower accounts for 38 percent of electricity produced from renewable power in the U.S., yet it has the capacity to represent much more, further fueling America’s transition to green energy and reaching our nation’s goal of 100 percent clean electricity by 2035.

Similar to wind and solar, hydropower is a clean energy technology.
